Keeping the children’s spirits up

When in hospital, children miss the stimulation and structure of their normal school and family life. LATCH helps organise a range of activities and treats to help boost moral and keep children occupied and amused during their long stays in hospital.
They also organise trips for the children and their families to keep their spirits up whilst recovering from treatment at home.
LATCH Christmas party
The annual LATCH Christmas party is a great opportunity for all the children to get together and have some fun. Entertainers offering face painting, games and activities always help raise a smile so does the yummy party food afterwards!
Trips out ‘n’ about
LATCH organises lots of trips throughout the year including a trip to a local outdoor theatre production and a family trip to a theme park such as Oakwood or Lego Land.
“The fun days are good. They encourage the children to mix with others on treatment.”
Mr A, Cardiff
Children’s Entertainers
LATCH organises visits from professional children’s entertainers on a regular basis to help brighten up the day.
Games and Toys
LATCH keeps the toy cupboard well stocked and invests in computers and the latest electronic gaming equipment to help while away the hours.
Chocolate treats
Every year, LATCH co-ordinates the distribution of Easter Eggs and Christmas selection boxes kindly donated by local companies and members of the community to children on the ward and to those visiting the outpatients department.
Through its Social Work Team, LATCH also organise other trips and treats sponsored by other charitable organisations such as The Joshua Foundation, Make a Wish Foundation and the Christan Lewis Trust.
