Cardiff, 13 August 2025 – Latch Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity is proud to announce that Wales international and recently retired Scarlets rugby legend Jonathan ‘Foxy’ Davies has raised an incredible £40,000 for the charity during his testimonial year.

From June 2024 to May 2025, Jonathan dedicated his testimonial year to supporting Latch, which provides bespoke emotional, practical and financial support for families affected by childhood cancer in Wales. His testimonial year featured a series of high-profile events in Llanelli, Cardiff and London uniting fans, former teammates and supporters across the globe.
In addition to raising this significant sum, Jonathan used his testimonial year as a platform to highlight Latch’s work. At each event he invited members of the Latch team, providing them with space to share their mission, showcase their services and connect directly with attendees. This helped to raise awareness of who Latch is and the vital work the charity does.
Last week, Jonathan and his family visited the Latch offices and Parents’ Accommodation at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff, to meet staff, volunteers and families before presenting the charity with the £40,000 cheque.

Jonathan said:
“I am extremely proud to have had Latch as my chosen charity for my testimonial year. The work they carry out not only at the University Hospital Wales but across all of South Wales is invaluable and being able to support the continued amazing work is a very proud moment for me and my family. I would like to thank my committee for all of their work throughout the year and to everyone who supported the year. Diolch.”
Jonathan retired this year after 16 action-packed seasons with the Scarlets, during which he won 96 caps for Wales and became one of the most recognisable and respected figures in world rugby. His commitment to Latch during his testimonial year is the latest example of his leadership and dedication both on and off the pitch.
Latch CEO Menai Owen-Jones said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Jonathan for choosing Latch as his testimonial charity. The funds he has raised will make a real and lasting difference to the children and families we support, and his passion for our cause has been truly inspiring. On behalf of everyone at Latch, thank you, Foxy.”

Latch hopes this will be the beginning of a long-term relationship with Jonathan, working together to raise awareness and funds for families facing childhood cancer in Wales.
The £40,000 will help Latch continue to provide vital support, from helping parents stay close to their children during treatment to funding equipment and activities that make the hospital experience a little easier.
