LATCH Accommodation Refurbishment Complete

The LATCH home from home accommodation has undergone a complete transformation over the past few months, with no stone left unturned in our aim to provide a first class, modern environment for the families we support.

The refurbishment involved repainting of all bedrooms, lounges and the LATCH kitchen area. New carpet has been fitted throughout, and the bathrooms have been completely redesigned with modern showers, fittings and floor to ceiling tiling.

The LATCH accommodation suite comprises eight bedrooms (six of which are en-suite), a kitchen and dining area and two lounges – aimed at creating a “home from home” for families who wish to be with their children during their stay in hospital.

Children come from all parts of Wales to receive treatment for cancer and leukaemia (from Chepstow in the East to Aberystwyth in the West) so having free on-site accommodation available is a vital lifeline for these families.

Denise Henderson, General Manager of LATCH, commented: “It’s incredible seeing the changes that have taken place. The colour schemes were beginning to look dated, and the bathrooms in particular look so much better, plus it gave us the opportunity to look at other details such as bedroom upholstery and even signage.”

She continued: “I’m pleased to say that we were able to provide alternative accommodation for any families who were in need whilst the work was underway, but it’s such a relief to finally have our doors back open. To all of our supporters, we extend a heartfelt thank you for helping us to make this refurbishment a reality. Families who stay with us are often going through some of the most traumatic times they’ll ever experience, so to have a clean, comfortable and modern environment for them is a wonderful blessing.”
