Christmas Fundraiser for Latch

Santa had to be a little more inventive last year to overcome the problems that Coronavirus has presented. So a Covid-secure drive-thru Santa’s Grotto where children  could meet Father Christmas from their cars was organised.

The event that took place in a Wimborne Pub car park has raised over £3,000 for Latch, the drive-thru was organised by Brian Farley (Santa Claus) and his wife Linda. Brian has taken on the role of Santa Clause for over 15 years, hosting a variety of household visits and Grotto’s but he has never held an event like this before.

He said: “The result from this drive-thru has been fabulous. I hoped to raise £500 but we have raised over £3,000. Everybody who visited me were up for it, cheerful and patient. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”

Events like this not only bring joy to children and their families, but it also provides much-needed support for charities like Latch.

The Allebon family, Brian Farley (Sana Clause) and Latch would like to say a very big thank you to all the amazing people who made the whole thing possible at the Coach and Horses. The Brewery Green King who gave their permission, the Landlord Liam and his wife and all the staff including Das who continued to run the pub when Santa stole all his staff for elves to help him in the Grotto.

A very generous donation was also given by the family who run fine Jewellery and Watches in Wimborne and Ringwood, the Bentley family. We would also like to thank the Bournemouth Evening Echo for their support in covering the event.
